Job Overview and Responsibilities

The purpose of the Senior Manager IT, Application Development position is to lead a development team in the continued design and development of Loyalty applications. This position will collaborate extensively with our business partners to design, develop and integrate user interfaces and services that meets the business needs. This position will have a strong focus on AWS cloud, .Net programming skills and SAFe development with the ability to influence innovation within the Loyalty space. The role will emphasize solutions architecture, Agile development, and driving organizational change.

Lead and manage team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-based application/s

Lead a portfolio of technology projects to ensure delivery of work requests and projects are within committed budget, on schedule, and the quality of individual projects meets the overall department performance goals.

Manage multiple vendor development teams assigned to projects and core support.

Understand and partner with United business and DT leadership teams along with product SMEs to define the end-state vision, goals, and strategy of the product and create multi-year product development strategy and tactical plans.

Share knowledge and collaborate to come up with effective and innovative solutions to problems.

Engage, collaborate and partner with stakeholders, technical and business, to understand business requirements and user expectations, and lead the development of solutions that meet functional and technical requirements.

Aligning with business partners on delivery success criteria and ensuring technology solutions follow architectural standards.

Provide delivery estimates and business case updates to support overall IT performance metrics, monthly project status reporting and quarterly resource planning review.

Identify technical obstacles early and work closely with the team to find creative solutions.

Responsible for escalating, assisting and follow-through on resolution of issues related to delivery of technology solutions

Ensure best practices for Agile methodologies are implemented, and continuous improvements are made, as needed.

Ensure adherence to code scanning and other security protocols are adhered to during development and release.

Empower, coach, and develop team members. Promote a culture of learning.

Establish team and individual’s goals including performance reviews and career and performance plans.

Perform short and long-term resources (internal and external) planning to ensure the proper number of resources and right skills are available to meet project goals and schedules.

Assess and recommend improvements to the organization structure, roles, and responsibilities.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.

5+ years of web or mobile development (ASP.NET, MVC, SQL, API, JavaScript…etc.)

5 + years of IT and business/industry work experience

2+ years of hands-on experience with foundational AWS Services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, CloudTrail, CloudFront, Lambda, EKS, ECS, etc.)

3+ years of software development best practices such as CI/CD, Unit/Integration testing, code reviews

2+ year of leadership experience in managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders

Requires advanced technical and business knowledge in software development life cycle, quality assurance, project management and other related disciplines/processes

2+ years' experience of Agile development

Understanding of system architecture principles, including the ability to design scalable and reliable solutions

Strong knowledge of Microsoft .NET Framework, Microsoft NET Core, API, SQL, NoSQL and Design Patterns

.Net, ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server, Visual Studio, ADO

Hands-on experience with foundational AWS Services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, CloudTrail, CloudFront, Lambda, EKS, ECS, etc.)

Experience supporting and maintaining vendor managed applications

Exceptional at triage or analysis of situations for production support

Excel at on time delivery without minimal supervision

Leadership experience and the ability to guide and inspire a team.

A mindset for continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices

Advanced technical and business knowledge in software development life cycle, quality assurance, project management and other related disciplines/processes

Well versed in Agile/SAFe development and requirements management processes.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

Airline Experience is a plus

Experience using AI and AI tools to enhance application development, technical decision-making, team productivity, and problem-solving is a plus.

AWS certification

SAFe experience

Practical experience in developing and architecting highly integrated, high user base systems is highly valued.

Leadership experience in managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders

The base pay range for this role is $140,600.00 to $183,108.00.

The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 5+ years in web/mobile development and IT/business experience.
• 2+ years hands-on AWS services experience and 2+ years leadership managing large, cross-functional teams.
• Proficient in .NET, Agile/SAFe development, software lifecycle, and system architecture principles.
