Job Overview and Responsibilities

The Senior Manager Food Safety will lead the Food Safety and Quality Assurance program for United Catering Operations for global catering and lounges. This role will develop, implement and maintain standardized food safety policies and procedures across all catering locations and lounges to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements FDA, USDA, CBP, DOD, CFIA and other agencies. This role is responsible to develop, implement and sustain the food safety management system.

This position is also responsible for training and oversight and resources required to ensure compliance with UA Food Safety requirements

Develop, implement and maintain COBM to define UA food safety requirements for catering locations

Develop training to communicate expectations to catering locations

Develop, implement and maintain UA food safety requirements for lounges

Communicate with hospitality partners to ensure compliance

Manage the food safety audit program outsourced to a third party and conduct catering facility food safety audits based on a schedule to ensure that all facilities are audited to confirm compliance with UA requirements

Support health department inspections

Monitors quality and food safety complaints received and follow up with catering locations and clubs to ensure issues are addressed to prevent recurrence

Stay abreast of recent developments in global food safety standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practices

Develop and establish KPI for catering locations that include regulatory audit performance, complaints and UA audit scores

Monitor performance with a focus on continuous improvement

Maintain detailed food safety records for all catering locations and lounges on SharePoint, Safety Chain and Quality First

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

Bachelor's degree

BS Degree in Microbiology, Food Science or a related field

HACCP Certification

PCQI qualification

7+ years in Food safety and Quality Assurance within a food production environment

1+ years of people management experience

Knowledge of FDA/FSMA and USDA requirements for food production facilities

Knowledge of food microbiology, food safety and food defense

Knowledge of the FDA Retail Code and ITP

Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with personnel, customers, suppliers and other business contacts

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Advanced Degree in Microbiology or Food Science

CFS Certification

Seafood HACCP Certification

ServSafe Manager

Lead Auditor Certification

Previous experience with GFSI schemes FSSC, SQF, ServSafe, FSPCA, and FDA/USDA audits

Knowledge of product traceability and recall management

Program and Process Management for highly complex operations

The base pay range for this role is $127,870.00 to $166,492.00.

The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or related field; HACCP and PCQI certifications
  • Minimum 7 years in Food Safety and Quality Assurance in food production; 1+ year people management experience
  • Knowledge of FDA/FSMA, USDA requirements, food microbiology, food safety, food defense, and FDA Retail Code
