Overview

The Security Manager, North America is responsible for supporting and executing Gallagher Global Safety & Security programs across North America. The position provides operational leadership for physical security, employee safety, threat and incident management, emergency preparedness, security intelligence, security technology, vendor oversight, and regional risk mitigation.

Reporting to the Senior Regional Security Manager, Americas, the Security Manager translates global and Americas security strategies into consistent and effective regional practices. The position serves as a primary regional point of contact for security matters and partners closely with business leadership, Human Resources, Legal, Real Estate, Technology, Compliance, Business Continuity, local office leadership, the Global Security Response Center, and external security providers.

The Security Manager conducts site risk assessments, coordinates responses to security incidents, supports investigations, oversees local security services, and promotes the consistent application of Gallagher security standards. The position must balance enterprise requirements with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws and the operational needs of individual offices and business units.

How you'll make an impact

Regional Security Operations

Manage the day-to-day execution of Gallagher Global Safety & Security programs across North America.

Implement global and Americas security standards, procedures, controls, and initiatives at the regional and local levels.

Serve as a primary security advisor and point of contact for North American business and office leadership.

Identify security gaps, evaluate operational risk, and develop practical corrective-action recommendations.

Coordinate regional security activities with the Senior Regional Security Manager, Americas, and applicable GSS program leaders.

Maintain awareness of crime trends, civil unrest, severe weather, natural hazards, regulatory developments, and other conditions that could affect Gallagher personnel, offices, or operations.

Provide timely incident reports, risk updates, operational metrics, and recommendations to GSS leadership.

Maintain regional operating procedures, escalation protocols, emergency contacts, and related security documentation.

Physical Security and Site Risk Management

Conduct physical security risk assessments, site-security reviews, audits, and operational readiness evaluations.

Document vulnerabilities, recommend risk-based corrective actions, and monitor remediation through completion.

Support security planning for new offices, relocations, consolidations, expansions, acquisitions, and office closures.

Partner with Physical Security, Real Estate, Technology, local leadership, property management, and vendors regarding access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management, duress alarms, and related systems.

Support the implementation and ongoing review of Gallagher minimum physical security standards.

Evaluate local operating conditions and recommend security measures appropriate to the location, business operation, workforce, and identified risk.

Maintain accurate site-security profiles, contact records, assessment results, and supporting documentation.

Assist office leaders with security-related landlord and property-management issues.

Risk, Threat, Intelligence, and Incident Management

Coordinate or support responses to workplace violence concerns, threats, suspicious activity, theft, physical security incidents, employee safety matters, protests, civil unrest, natural hazards, and other disruptive events.

Serve as an in-region escalation point in coordination with the Global Security Response Center and the Senior Regional Security Manager, Americas.

Gather, document, preserve, and communicate relevant incident information using established GSS protocols.

Support threat assessments and security investigations with GSS Threat Management, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, and other authorized stakeholders.

Recommend proportionate protective measures based on available information, vulnerabilities, and business requirements.

Participate in incident-management and crisis-management calls.

Support the development and testing of emergency response, employee accountability, evacuation, shelter-in-place, and notification procedures.

Conduct or facilitate post-incident reviews and monitor corrective actions through completion.

Travel, Event, and Executive Support

Coordinate with GSS intelligence, travel risk, and executive protection resources regarding elevated-risk travel and events.

Support Gallagher’s Travel Risk Management program.

Support security planning for corporate events, executive visits, leadership meetings, and other significant business activities.

Assist with transportation-security assessments, route considerations, hotel-security reviews, and local provider coordination when required.

Escalate elevated-risk travel or executive-movement concerns to the Senior Regional Security Manager, Americas, and applicable GSS program leaders.

Maintain awareness of country-specific entry, movement, communication, and emergency-response considerations relevant to security support.

Business Partnership and Stakeholder Support

Develop effective working relationships with business leaders, office leadership, Human Resources, Legal, Real Estate, Technology, Compliance, Business Continuity, Communications, and other internal partners.

Translate security risks and technical information into clear, practical recommendations for non-security stakeholders.

Provide localized security support while maintaining alignment with Gallagher enterprise standards.

Promote a consistent, visible, and service-oriented GSS presence while recognizing that each country and office may require individualized attention based on its operating environment, business needs, and risk profile.

Participate in regional business meetings, office planning activities, and security-related projects.

Deliver or coordinate employee security awareness briefings, exercises, communications, and training.

Provide oversight and coordination of regional security vendors, technology providers, and other security-related service partners.

Monitor vendor performance, service delivery, compliance requirements, and adherence to contractual obligations and established standards.

Program Development and Continuous Improvement

Support the continued maturation of Gallagher’s North American security program by identifying emerging risks, monitoring regional trends, evaluating significant incidents, escalating enterprise-level concerns, and recommending improvements to processes, technology, communications, training, reporting, and service delivery.

Track incidents, assessment findings, corrective actions, vendor performance, and regional security-program metrics.

Contribute to regional dashboards, country-risk profiles, risk registers, leadership reports, and program reviews.

Share regional intelligence, lessons learned, and effective local practices with the wider GSS team.

Participate in Americas and global GSS initiatives, exercises, assessments, and special projects.

Help connect North American offices with appropriate GSS expertise, standards, systems, and response capabilities.

Support planning and regional budget development by identifying anticipated security requirements, country-specific costs, and program priorities.

About You

Required:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and training in related fields required + minimum of 5 years' experience in the field Corporate Safety and Security.

Ability to be on call 24/7 basis as part of a response team for any related emergencies.

Knowledge of life safety systems, electronic security, video and digital recording systems.

Highly Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Business, International Relations, or a related discipline, or equivalent applicable professional experience.

Five or more years of progressive experience in corporate security, physical security, incident management, law enforcement, military security, emergency management, investigations, or a related risk function.

Experience supporting security operations across multiple offices, states, provinces, or jurisdictions.

Experience conducting physical security assessments and developing practical risk-mitigation recommendations.

Experience coordinating responses to security incidents with business stakeholders and outside agencies.

Working knowledge of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management, alarm monitoring, and related physical security technologies.

Experience overseeing contract security providers or other third-party security services.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to prepare clear incident reports, risk assessments, executive summaries, and operational updates.

Sound judgment and the ability to remain organized during urgent or rapidly evolving incidents.

Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related business applications.

Ability to travel throughout North America and occasionally internationally.

Ability to support urgent incident response outside normal business hours.

Preferred:

Professional certification such as Certified Protection Professional, Physical Security Professional, Professional Certified Investigator, Certified Emergency Manager, or a comparable credential.

Experience in a multinational, federated, or decentralized corporate environment.

Experience supporting office acquisitions, integrations, relocations, or physical security upgrades.

Familiarity with U.S. and Canadian privacy, surveillance, workplace safety, labor, and emergency-management considerations.

Experience working with a GSOC, GSRC, or similar security monitoring and incident-coordination function.

Experience developing security awareness programs, exercises, and employee communications.

French-language capability is desirable for supporting Canadian operations.
