Deloitte
Chicago, IL, USAHybridFinance & AccountingMid-Level$84,300 - $140,600Posted: today

About the role

Position Summary

We are seeking a Specialist Lead to join our Finance Systems team User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for finance-led platform enhancements and integrations. In this role, you will own UAT planning, readiness, and execution across GEMS, SWIFT, Beacon, CP3, and other finance applications, including those connected to SAP S/4HANA and related financial applications such as pricing and forecasting.

You will act as the bridge between finance business users and technology teams: translating finance requirements into acceptance criteria and UAT scenarios, preparing and coordinating business testers, working with Information Technology Services (ITS), product engineering, and business teams, and giving stakeholders a clear, evidence-based view of release readiness to support go/no-go decisions. The Specialist Lead will also guide and mentor testers on the team and support the testing lead in day-to-day delivery.

Work You'll Do:

As a Specialist Lead, Firm Financial Systems, you will:

Define UAT scope, approach, and entry and exit criteria for finance application enhancements across GEMS, SWIFT, Beacon, CP3, and other finance platforms, including effort estimates and alignment to the release plan

Translate business requirements and acceptance criteria into UAT scenarios, test scripts, and test data that reflect real finance processes, ensuring shared understanding with product, engineering, and business teams

Partner with business process owners to identify, onboard, and brief UAT participants, setting clear expectations on roles, timelines, and sign-off, and scheduling around finance calendar constraints such as period-end close

Confirm UAT environment and test data readiness with ITS before each cycle, including SAP S/4HANA-connected interfaces and reporting outputs

Coordinate and run UAT cycles, guiding business testers, tracking execution progress against plan, and communicating daily status and blockers

Triage defects with business, product, and engineering teams by confirming severity and priority, distinguishing defects from change requests and training needs, and tracking fixes through retest and closure

Validate accounting and financial outcomes for finance-impacting changes, including reconciliations and data quality checks, and ensure test evidence is captured and audit-ready

Execute or oversee system integration, regression, and end-to-end testing to confirm releases are stable before and after UAT

Report UAT status, coverage, defect trends, and risks to the testing lead and stakeholders, and prepare go/no-go inputs and UAT sign-off documentation

Support production support and release hypercare validation, and apply lessons learned from UAT and production defects to future test planning

Mentor and guide testers by setting clear priorities, supporting performance and development, and fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture

Support the testing lead in coordinating day-to-day work across the team, tracking progress, and balancing workloads across releases, and run team stand-ups and release check-ins when the lead is unavailable

Review UAT scripts, test plans, and test cases prepared by team members, and onboard new joiners to finance applications and testing standards

A successful candidate would possess these skills:

Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Meticulous attention to detail and quality of work product

Ability to build and sustain professional relationships

Ability to lead projects or workstreams

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

Ability to meet deadlines

Ability to mentor and provide clear guidance to others

The Team

Finance Systems serves as the subject matter experts for the US finance application portfolio, testing and validating innovative solutions and changes through governance and change management to meet the technology needs of Finance and the US firm. The testing function sits at the center of that mission: designing and executing test strategies across functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing, safeguarding data quality and reporting accuracy, and catching defects before they reach production.

UAT is where finance users confirm that a change works for the way they run the business, and the team makes sure those users are prepared, supported, and heard. Joining the team is an opportunity to help drive the future vision of the Finance organization by raising the bar on test coverage and release quality, so that every release ships with confidence.

Qualifications

Required:

Professional with 4+ years of relevant experience, including hands-on testing of finance or ERP systems and direct experience planning or leading UAT

Strong understanding of finance systems and processes; experience with SAP, client-to-cash (CTC), core finance, and pricing and forecasting

Hands-on experience designing and executing UAT scenarios, test plans, and test cases for enterprise applications

Experience coordinating business users through UAT, including onboarding testers, tracking execution, and obtaining sign-off

Experience supporting defect triage and release readiness for finance-related system changes, including providing go/no-go input

Experience gathering business requirements, translating them into acceptance criteria, and partnering with technical teams to validate finance or accounting system solutions

Experience researching system and process issues, performing root cause analysis, and driving cross-functional resolution

Experience coordinating testing activities and mentoring junior testers; able to communicate test status and risks clearly to stakeholders at all levels

Ability to explain technical issues in business terms and to influence business stakeholders to meet UAT timelines

Demonstrated commitment to integrity and confidentiality

Excellent proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)

Preferred:

Certification in ISTQB, CSTE, Agile/SAFe, and/or Project Management Professional

Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (for example, ALM, Jira, or Azure DevOps) for UAT execution tracking, traceability, and defect reporting

Experience planning UAT within Agile or SAFe release cycles, including Program Increments

Experience with test automation tools or frameworks for enterprise or ERP applications

Knowledge of audit support, SOX compliance documentation, and internal controls over financial reporting

Experience testing SAP-connected finance interfaces, subledgers, and reporting tools
