Zayo is seeking a Service Delivery Design and Engineering III candidate to be responsible for customer support of newly installed circuits, hardware configuration updates, Manages Services support and changes, etc. as needed. Responsibilities will include assisting our customers with the turn-up of their services as well as record keeping and provisioning changes as needed on various Layer 1, 2 & 3 network devices, Managed Services updates/changes, BGP configurations, DNS changes, and other related activities as needed.
Circuits are designed and configured within the various switched and routed data and optical wave networks including but not limited to Juniper, Nokia, and Cisco routers, MRV/Adva, Ciena, and Cisco switches, Ciena and Cisco Optical transport platforms and Versa SD-WAN enable devices, using company defined configurations and standards. This qualified individual will remotely Provide comprehensive technical support to customers during the turn up of new services via phone and email. NOTE: The team is open to this position working remotely within the United States.
**HOURS: 11am - 7pm EST **ON CALL: Approximately every 7 weeks/7pm - 8:30am weekdays AND weekend hours. Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive technical support to customers during the turn up of new services via phone and email New turn up support on: the Data Network (IP, Switched Ethernet) and on the Optical Transport Network (SONET, DWDM) Support Field Operations, NOC, ONS and Engineering as required Ethernet and IP circuit design and documentation using NetCracker and Visio Manual provisioning and troubleshooting of live production switches and routers – experience with Juniper, Nokia, MRV/Adva, Ciena, Cisco and Ciena 6500 preferred BGP configuration and support.
Internet Route Registry updates DNS configuration and support Update job assignments in appropriate system(s). Flag capacity constraints to Supervisor/Manager as necessary Troubleshoot existing customer services and reconfigure as required Work directly with and communicate effectively to Zayo customers This role handles approximately 10 Calls per Day. This role creates trouble tickets and generally handles approximately - 10-20 Tickets per day or more depending on volume of calls.
Minimal travel required (less than 10%) Qualifications: Minimum of four (4) years telecommunications experience with an understanding of Ethernet, DIA, IP Transit, SONET, SDH, and DWDM. Basic understanding of all protocols provisioned: (Ethernet, DIA, IP Transit, GbE, SONET, Fiber Channel, and others.) Knowledge of equipment commissioning and provisioning across multiple platforms.
Basic knowledge with the following vendor equipment: Infinera (DTNX, DTC, ATC, MTC, TNX, G30, G40, 3000) Ciena (6500, 5200, 4200, 3500, CPL, 3900, 5100) Ciena (formerly Cyan) (Z77,Z33,Z22) Nokia 1830, 7750, 7210 Juniper MX Series Cisco ASR Adva / MRV Familiarity with the following systems preferable: Netcool Salesforce Metasolv CRM Netcracker Strong interpersonal skills to support management, negotiation, and problem-solving functions of this role. Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines in high pressure scenarios.
Must be able to work independently and productively with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent technical training and experience. Minimum 5 years of experience in IP and Ethernet networking or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effective problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and OSS tools (ticketing and circuit inventory systems).
Knowledge of Ethernet and IP networking protocols and technologies: BGP, OSPF, RIP, MPLS/VPLS, Spanning Tree, G.8032 Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, and Alcatel-Lucent operating systems. Estimated base pay range for this role is $26.92 - $41.39 USD / hour The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role.
