This individual will join our growing IT Infrastructure Operations team and will partner closely with the Cloud Architect and other technology teams to maintain secure, scalable, and reliable cloud infrastructure while driving automation, cloud governance, and modernization initiatives. The Senior Azure Cloud Engineer will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the organization's Azure environment through cloud engineering best practices, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps automation, performance optimization, and resiliency planning.
In addition to hands-on engineering responsibilities, this role will serve as a senior technical resource for the team, providing mentorship and technical guidance to existing cloud and Microsoft 365 team members to help mature internal cloud capabilities. This is full time, hybrid role based at our corporate headquarters in Rosemont, IL, reporting to the Principal System Engineer Manager. What You’ll Do Cloud Infrastructure Management Design, deploy, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure.
Partner with peers to implement and manage Azure Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Load Balancers, and Storage Accounts. Configure and support Azure Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings. Monitor cloud resource utilization and optimize performance and costs. Security & Cloud Governance Implement and maintain Azure security best practices and cloud governance standards. Administer Microsoft Entra ID/Azure Active Directory, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and identity access management. Identify, monitor, and remediate cloud security vulnerabilities.
Help ensure appropriate controls, policies, and standards are incorporated into the Azure environment. Automation & DevOps Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and Bicep. Build and support automated deployments using Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines. Develop scripts and automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and/or Python. Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Production Support Configure Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights. Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, cloud, and application issues.
Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for Azure-related incidents and service requests. Participate in on-call support rotations as required. Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Implement and maintain backup and recovery solutions using Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery. Perform disaster recovery testing and validation. Develop and improve high-availability, resiliency, backup, and recovery strategies for cloud-based systems. Collaboration, Mentorship & Technical Leadership Partner closely with application, security, network, infrastructure, and operations teams.
Work with the Cloud Architect to implement and mature the organization's Azure cloud strategy. Provide technical guidance and recommendations related to Azure infrastructure and cloud engineering. Mentor and train team members, including existing cloud and Microsoft 365 staff, to strengthen internal cloud engineering capabilities. Qualifications 3-5+ years of experience. Extensive hands-on experience designing, deploying, administering, and supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
Strong knowledge of Azure infrastructure services, including Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Load Balancers, Storage Accounts, and PaaS offerings. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or Bicep. Proficiency with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation scripting using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and/or Python. Strong understanding of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), RBAC, cloud security, governance, and compliance best practices. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across technical teams while providing mentorship, technical leadership, and knowledge transfer.
Experience supporting enterprise cloud migration and modernization projects. Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, or comparable certifications).

Minimum requirements
