Vistex is currently hiring a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure Team. The Vistex Senior Cloud Engineer will be primarily responsible for developing and providing automated, highly available cloud infrastructure that will be utilized by internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Cloud Engineer will also be responsible for providing architectural input for our environment, as well as mentoring other engineers in the department.
This is a highly technical, hands-on role with a strong focus on high-level automation, resilient design, and growth of the Cloud Infrastructure Team. As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will collaborate with our DevOps and Basis teams in support of providing full-stack infrastructure technical expertise to meet the demands of our cloud-based applications.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement secure, complex automations that deploy cloud infrastructure components which are utilized by several different teams
Maintain and grow public cloud platforms, as well as our OpenStack private cloud platform
Build and implement Infrastructure-as-Code approach to cloud infrastructure creation and management
Design, implement, expand, and maintain production-level Kubernetes clusters and deployments
Create custom modules and maintain post-deployment configuration tools (Puppet)
Maintain and commit code to source control solutions
Enhance and maintain deployment pipelines
Understand and implement identity and access management (IAM) for multiple cloud environments
Work with cloud-native software-defined networking technologies including VPCs, Subnetworks, and Firewall rules
Write and maintain various scripts for cloud-based systems
Monitor cloud infrastructure to identify areas of improvement
Develop container images to be used in hosting on-prem cloud environments
Research and implement new technology to keep the team at the front of innovation
Troubleshoot and resolve issues reported by various monitoring systems and our ticketing system
Work with the Vistex Security Team to ensure we have security coverage throughout all our cloud environments
Disaster recovery planning and testing
Participate in an on-call rotation for cloud infrastructure support
Performing other tasks as defined and approved by leadership
The compensation for this position is $105k - $120k CAD. Base pay will vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, a candidate’s location, job-related knowledge, skills and work experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus. Qualifications
Education
Required
Bachelors or better in Computer Science or related field.
Experience
Required
8-10 years:
Experience working in cloud engineering, DevOps, infrastructure, or a related technical field.
Experience with production computing environments OR equivalent work experience.
Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible, etc.)
Experience in Infrastructure as Code tooling (Terraform)
Experience performing design/build/support of multiple operating systems (Linux, Windows)
Multiple years of experience with deploying to and operating cloud environments (Google Cloud, Azure, AWS, OpenStack)
Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows system administration a must.
Ability to design, document, and implement large, cloud-native architecture patterns.
Working knowledge of Kubernetes and various components.
Working knowledge of networking concepts such as IP Addressing, TCP vs UDP vs ICMP, DNS, DHCP.
Strong knowledge of server and software-development lifecycles.
Ability to write highly functional scripts in at least one predominant scripting language (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
Preferred
Strong knowledge of advanced networking concepts (Subnetting, CIDR ranges, VLANs/VXLANs, VPN Tunneling, etc.)
Ability to construct containers from scratch (Docker).
Experience with relational databases is a plus (PostgreSQL, MSSQL).
