Job Description This position will be responsible for the analysis, design, testing, development and maintenance of best in class software experiences. The candidate is a self-motivated individual who can collaborate with a team and across the organization. The candidate takes responsibility of the software artifacts produced adhering to U.S. Bank standards in order to ensure minimal impact to the customer experience. The candidate will be adept with the agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles.
Essential Responsibilities: Design, develop, test, debug, document, and maintain complex Mainframe applications supporting critical business functions. Participate in application architecture activities, including solution design, effort estimation, project planning, and technical roadmaps. Analyze business and technical requirements and recommend scalable, high-performing solutions that align with enterprise standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including design, development, testing, implementation, and support.
Develop and maintain program specifications, ensuring performance, reliability, and service-level objectives are achieved. Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and application issues across Mainframe environments and dependent systems. Lead implementation, deployment, and release management activities while ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices. Mentor developers and provide technical guidance for problem-solving, process improvements, and modernization initiatives.
Basic Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience - Five to six years of relevant experience Skills/Experience Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, MQ, and IMS Database development. Hands-on experience with Mainframe development tools including GitLab, IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz), File Manager, EZTRIEVE, and TSO. Advanced knowledge of Mainframe programming, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and debugging. Experience supporting large-scale, high-volume transaction processing systems in enterprise environments.
Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies, application lifecycle management, and release implementation processes. Experience developing unit, system, and functional test plans and supporting quality assurance activities. Ability to create technical designs, architecture documentation, and detailed functional specifications. Excellent communication, leadership, collaboration, and mentoring skills, with the ability to partner effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience in the Banking or Financial Services industry.

The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
