Description

United's Digital Technology team is comprised of many talented individuals all working together with cutting-edge technology to build the best airline in the history of aviation. Our team designs, develops and maintains massively scaling technology solutions brought to life with innovative architectures, data analytics, and digital solutions.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Product Manager, Metrics & Governance is responsible for establishing and managing a standardized enterprise metrics capability for Digital Technology. This role serves as the product manager for the metrics platform and leads cross-functional efforts to define, prioritize, build, and operationalize metrics within the United Data Hub (UDH).

The Product Manager coordinates work across business stakeholders, product teams, technical analysts, metrics engineers, data engineers, architects, and dashboard developers to ensure metrics are accurate, automated, scalable, and usable for decision-making. As the capability matures, the role will transition its primary focus from implementation and delivery to metrics governance, adoption, quality, and continuous improvement.

Metrics product strategy and roadmap: Establish and maintain the vision, roadmap, priorities, and release plan for the metrics capability. Translate transformation and leadership needs into a sequenced backlog of metric definitions, data integrations, reporting capabilities, and governance improvements.

Cross-functional delivery leadership: Coordinate delivery across business stakeholders, product teams, technical analysts, metrics engineers, data engineers, architects, and dashboard developers. Manage dependencies, address risks, clarify ownership, and ensure capability milestones are achieved.

Backlog and lifecycle management: Create, prioritize, and maintain the metrics product backlog. Balance business value, technical feasibility, data readiness, team capacity, and dependencies when sequencing metric development and enhancements.

Metric definition and UDH enablement: Lead efforts to define metric requirements, calculation standards, source-system needs, acceptance criteria, and reporting expectations. Partner with technical teams to enable trusted source data, data models, and pipelines in UDH.

Metrics governance and quality: Establish and maintain governance processes for metric definitions, ownership, approvals, data quality, lineage, change control, documentation, and ongoing certification. Ensure standardized metrics remain consistent and trusted as adoption scales.

Adoption and stakeholder engagement: Partner with teams to validate metric outputs, support adoption of standardized reporting, gather feedback, communicate changes, and promote consistent use across Digital Technology.

Performance and value measurement: Define success measures for the metrics capability, monitor delivery and adoption, identify improvement opportunities, and provide clear updates to senior leadership on progress, risks, decisions, and realized value.
