Director, Product Architecture
About the role
SailPoint is defining how identity security works for humans, machines, and AI agents. As Director of Product Architecture, you will be the senior technical authority for authorization-related products across our product portfolio. You will own the architectural vision and drive its adoption across product teams. This is a hands-on IC role with company-wide influence, reporting directly to Chief Product Officer.
What you’ll do Define and evolve SailPoint’s authorization architecture, covering policy models, enforcement points, and delegation across the platform, for both human and agentic identities. Set the technical direction for how authorization capabilities are built once and reused across product teams, so customers get one coherent experience. Work with Engineering and Product Management to turn architecture into roadmap, and to resolve cross-team design conflicts.
Track and shape emerging standards and protocols (OAuth 2.x, token exchange, MCP, Shared Signals/CAEP, policy languages such as Cedar and OPA) and decide where SailPoint leads and where it adopts. Support analyst, customer, and field conversations with credible technical depth, including CISO and CIO audiences. Produce clear architecture artifacts, reference designs, and technical narratives that product, engineering, and GTM teams can act on.
What you bring 12+ years in software architecture or product architecture, with significant depth in authorization, access control, or identity and access management. Strong command of authorization models (RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC, policy-as-code), modern identity protocols, and distributed systems design. Experience shipping enterprise security or identity products at scale. A track record of driving alignment across multiple teams without direct authority. Exposure to AI agent security, non-human identity, or API and gateway enforcement is a strong plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to explain complex architecture to executives, customers, and engineers alike. Success looks like A single, well-understood authorization architecture adopted across the product teams. Faster, more consistent delivery of authorization capabilities, with less duplicated effort. SailPoint recognized by customers and analysts as a leader in authorization for the agentic era.
