Salary/Grade: NEX/11

Target hiring range for this position will be between $19.89-$25.64 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Job Summary:

The Sangwan Lab at the Feinberg School of Medicine is looking for a research technician to join our lab to work on stress signaling pathways. May complete mathematical calculations, and/or computer tasks and/or assist in judging validity of data. Candidates with experience with recombinant expression and protein purification, protein biochemistry and structural biology will be preferred. We are looking for a passionate and curious scientist to join our team.

Specific Responsibilities:

Molecular Biology:

DNA, RNA, Protein isolation, purification and expression Western blotting

PCR

Plasmid preparation

Cloning, mapping and sequencing of DNA

Recombinant protein expression in bacterial, insect and mammalian cells.

Cellular Biology:

Cell culture, cell isolation

Gene editing using CRISPR

Functional studies

Transfection

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

Demonstrated laboratory experience.

Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions as required by research protocols;

Demonstrated computer skills, including spreadsheets and basic computations;

Attention to detail and accurate record keeping;

Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
