Job Overview
Are you interested in learning how large-scale engineering and technology projects are planned, executed, and delivered? The Program and Project Management team at Komatsu provides leadership and direction for initiatives that support our business objectives and product development efforts.
As an Intern, you will gain hands-on exposure to real-world program and project management practices, learn from experienced project managers, and contribute to the tools and processes that help drive delivery of innovative solutions. This is a learning-focused opportunity designed to give you practical skills and insights into project management in a global manufacturing and technology environment.
Key Job Responsibilities
During this internship, you will work alongside project managers and engineering leaders to support ongoing initiatives. Your learning and responsibilities may include:
Project Planning & Tracking – Learn how to develop and maintain project work plans, schedules, and reports.
Collaboration & Communication – Participate in cross-functional team meetings, capturing key updates, risks, and decisions.
Risk & Issue Management – Observe how project managers identify, track, and escalate project risks and resource challenges.
Tools & Processes – Gain hands-on exposure to Komatsu’s project management methodologies, templates, and tracking systems.
Continuous Improvement – Support initiatives that improve program management tools, reporting, and knowledge sharing across the team.
Professional Development – Build skills in communication, teamwork, time management, and business process awareness.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education: Actively enrolled in a Business, Project Management, or Engineering Program from a 4-year accredited college/university
Interest in project management, engineering, or manufacturing operations.
Familiarity with project management and product development lifecycles is a plus.
Must be able to apply their academic background to real business world experiences.
Experience: Prior experience with work study programs, school or volunteer leadership roles, participated on teams or in clubs, professional organizations, etc. preferred.
Soft Skills: Must have Excellent written and verbal communications. Ability to multi-task, manage deadlines and easily adapt to new challenges and business working environment. Strong motivation to make contributions to Komatsu and strong motivation to drive results.
PC Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically with Excel (Pivot Tables), Power Point (slide presentations) and other summary and analysis tools. Must demonstrate good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information
Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $18.00 - $22.00. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
