Job Description

Be a part of the Commercial Banking (CB) Finance team for an exciting opportunity to provide financial analytics and reporting to influence business decisions for CB which is sub line of business within Global Banking. Our team partners with business managers, strategy and other finance teams, and leads the business and financial analytics for CB and each of its segments and industries.

In addition, we provide analyses that lead to public disclosure associated with the business’ strategy, financial performance, and industry trends for the Firm’s presentations at Investor Day, Earnings, and industry conferences.

As a Vice President in the CB Finance team, you will be responsible for running business and financial analytics and reporting for senior members of the CB sub line of business. In this role, you will be expected to create, maintain and review financial models and conduct deep dive analyses on key drivers impacting the business to help drive the strategic vision forward.

Job responsibilities

Lead the dialogue with senior business leadership as well as stakeholders across the Commercial Bank to provide information on the business trends, financial performance, market strategy, competitive landscape and industry trends

Develop and present insightful and robust qualitative and quantitative financial analysis for key internal clients including senior management; participate and support ad-hoc special projects and requests as needed

Prepare presentation materials and financial analytics for senior management for financial reporting meetings, quarterly business reviews, and budget

Create, maintain and review financial models and analyses (both recurring and ad-hoc)

Conduct deep dive analyses on key issues impacting clients/business to determine root cause and propose solutions

Partner with Business Management and Analytics and Reporting teams to develop insightful reporting, focusing on drivers, and the “so what, now what?” dialogue

Drive value-add change by helping to simplify processes, accelerate automation, and enhance analytics and business support

Lead and manage a team

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting

7+ years of experience in Management Consulting, Corporate Finance, Planning & Analysis and/or Accounting

Experience in corporate financial analytics with an understanding of a Bank’s balance sheet, P&L and key drivers

Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills with a proven track record of execution against deliverables; strategic thinker

Excellent verbal & written communication and relationship management skills, strong executive presence, and ability to tell a story with data

Strong technical and analytical skills, including Excel, PowerPoint

Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to synthesize large amounts of data, summarize key concepts and articulate appropriately

Strong work ethic; work well in a fast-paced environment

Proactive and sense of urgency, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines

Self-starter and seeks to break the status-quo and initiate improvements where necessary

Experience with managing/leading a team

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting with 7+ years in Management Consulting, Corporate Finance, Planning & Analysis, or Accounting
  • Experience in corporate financial analytics, understanding bank balance sheets, P&L, and key drivers
  • Strong analytical, communication, project management skills, and experience managing/leading a team
