Become a part of our caring community The SolarWinds SME is responsible for managing and optimizing the SolarWinds platform, including installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, SQL-based reporting, and dashboard development. This role partners with IT and business teams to deliver reliable monitoring, actionable insights, and continuous system improvements. The SME also provides documentation, best-practice guidance, and mentoring support for junior team members.
The SolarWinds SME is responsible for the end-to-end management, optimization, and support of the SolarWinds platform within the organization. This includes installation, upgrades, troubleshooting performance issues, advanced SQL reporting, and dashboard creation. The SME will work closely with IT and business stakeholders to ensure the monitoring environment delivers actionable insights and meets operational requirements. Use your skills to make an impact Key Responsibilities: Basic to intermediate knowledge of networking fundamentals.
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SolarWinds network monitoring systems and modules. Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries to generate custom and ad-hoc reports. Design, create, and maintain dashboards in SolarWinds to visualize performance metrics, alerts, and system status. Troubleshoot and resolve SolarWinds performance issues, ensuring optimal functionality and reliability. Analyze monitoring data to identify trends and recommend improvements. Collaborate with internal teams to assess monitoring and reporting needs and deliver solutions.
Document system configurations, processes, troubleshooting steps, and reporting procedures. Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on SolarWinds best practices and capabilities. Support ongoing system enhancements, patches, and integrations. Mentor and train junior team members as required. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years extensive hands-on experience with SolarWinds products (e.g., NPM, NCM, SAM).
Advanced proficiency in SQL for developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting queries and reports. Proven experience installing, upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting SolarWinds environments to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and availability. Experience designing and maintaining dashboards in SolarWinds. Solid understanding of network infrastructure, protocols, and monitoring concepts. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Relevant certifications in SolarWinds or network administration. Experience with ITIL or similar service management frameworks. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc. $97,900 - $133,500 per year This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. Minimum requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience with 5+ years hands-on SolarWinds expertise.
- Advanced SQL skills for query/report development and troubleshooting.
- Proven ability to install, upgrade, maintain, and troubleshoot SolarWinds systems and design dashboards.
