CodeFlow is the enterprise software development transformation that brings this experience to life by modernizing engineering practices, developer platforms, tools, governance, and ways of working to improve software quality, productivity, speed, security, compliance, and developer experience across GE HealthCare. The VP, Software Engineering Transformation & Developer Experience will lead the enterprise capabilities that enable GE HealthCare engineers to build, deploy, operate, and continuously improve software and digital solutions with greater speed, quality, security, and consistency.

The role will lead a multidisciplinary organization spanning software architecture, developer platforms, technical training, community engagement, engineering transformation, and process coaching, while mobilizing a broader network of engineering leaders and practitioners across the company. Key outcomes include higher engineering productivity, improved developer experience, stronger software quality and compliance, more reliable and secure delivery, faster adoption of modern engineering practices, and accelerated use of AI-enabled development.
Success will require close partnership across Product, Technology, Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Cybersecurity, IT, Segment software teams, and strategic external partners to create a consistent, scalable, and high-performing software building environment across GE HealthCare. Developer Experience, Platforms and Engineering Productivity Shape the enterprise strategy for software engineering productivity and developer experience, defining the future-state capabilities, standards, and investments required to make GE HealthCare a high-performing software engineering environment. Drive measurable improvement in developer productivity, automation, reuse, collaboration, software delivery performance, and developer experience through clear enterprise outcomes and performance measures.
Influence the future tools and platform roadmap with IT and strategic partners, including AWS, to ensure GE HealthCare’s software building environment is secure, scalable, integrated, and aligned to long-term business and technology priorities. 2. Software Transformation, Governance and Operational Excellence Architect the enterprise operating model for CodeFlow, defining how modern software engineering practices, governance, and controls are scaled across GE HealthCare in a regulated environment.
Set enterprise standards for software development, DevSecOps, design controls, quality, cybersecurity, and the software supply chain to improve consistency, traceability, compliance, and engineering effectiveness. Define the capabilities and controls required for secure and reliable software delivery, including release management, deployment automation, change safety, engineering planning, work management, and incident response.
Shape the integration of security, quality, compliance, and evidence generation into engineering workflows to reduce risk while improving speed and developer experience. Establish a repeatable, scalable, and auditable transformation model grounded in Heartbeat, Lean, and continuous improvement, with clear measures for quality, reliability, operational performance, and business continuity. 3.
AI, Technical Capability and Open Source Shape GE HealthCare’s enterprise strategy for AI-enabled software engineering, defining where Generative AI and automation should transform engineering workflows, capabilities, and productivity. Set the roadmap for responsible AI adoption across requirements, architecture, coding, testing, documentation, security, quality, release, operations, and incident management, with appropriate governance for cybersecurity, intellectual property, privacy, quality, and regulatory risk.
Define the technical capability strategy for the software organization, including technical learning, knowledge management, communities of practice, standards, reusable patterns, and reference architectures. Anticipate and shape the future evolution of engineering roles, skills, operating models, and technology capabilities as AI, automation, open source, and emerging technologies mature. 4.
Enterprise Strategy, Partnerships and External Engagement Shape the integrated enterprise roadmap for CodeFlow and Software Building Experience, setting priorities across capabilities, investments, dependencies, adoption, and value realization. Influence enterprise investment and capacity decisions by integrating engineering needs, business priorities, regulatory and cybersecurity risk, quality, developer experience, and long-term technology strategy.
Serve as a senior enterprise interface across Quality, Regulatory, Cybersecurity, Segment software teams, IT, Product, Technology, and Engineering to align strategic direction, standards, platforms, controls, and transformation priorities. Shape strategic partnerships with IT, AWS, and other technology and ecosystem partners to influence platform roadmaps, cloud architecture, enterprise standards, and future engineering capabilities.
Own external consulting and advisory engagements, ensuring external expertise is focused on priority outcomes, creates measurable value, and builds sustainable internal capability. 5. Adoption, Measurement and Organizational Leadership Define the enterprise capability model, adoption expectations, maturity measures, and leadership mechanisms required to scale modern software practices and sustain transformation outcomes.
Establish the outcome framework for Software Building Experience, measuring engineering productivity, developer experience, software quality, reliability, compliance readiness, adoption, operational performance, and business value. Advise senior leaders on enterprise choices and tradeoffs across technology, investment, regulatory risk, operations, organizational capability, and transformation priorities.
Build and lead a multidisciplinary organization of 10+ spanning architecture, developer platforms, technical training, communications and community engagement, engineering transformation, and process coaching, with clear accountability for enterprise outcomes. Mobilize leaders, engineers, architects, coaches, and technical communities across GE HealthCare to accelerate adoption, build durable capability, and embed a culture of accountability, technical excellence, continuous learning, and continuous improvement.
Essential Qualifications Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Healthcare Technology Management, Business, or a related field, or bachelor’s degree plus at least 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the specialty. 15+ years leading enterprise software, engineering, digital transformation, platform, or large-scale strategic initiatives in healthcare technology, software, engineering, or similarly regulated industries.
Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide transformations across multiple businesses and functions. Experience establishing governance models, platform operating models, integrated execution disciplines, and executive operating mechanisms. Advanced working knowledge of regulated software development, Agile, DevSecOps, digital engineering, design controls, software quality systems, cybersecurity, and healthcare technology regulatory expectations.
Strong understanding of modern software engineering environments, including developer platforms, source code management, CI/CD, software supply chains, build and release automation, cloud, and runtime technologies. Experience making enterprise-scale technology, investment, capacity, risk, and operating decisions. Experience leading or influencing developer tooling, technical standards, engineering platforms, architecture strategies, or enterprise software practices. Experience managing significant external consulting, advisory, technology, or strategic partner engagements.
Demonstrated ability to work across Quality, Regulatory, Cybersecurity, IT, business, and software engineering organizations. Understanding of Generative AI and its application across software engineering workflows. Proven ability to influence senior executives and lead effectively in highly matrixed organizations. Exceptional strategic thinking, executive communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills. Desired Qualifications and Characteristics Enterprise technology leader with a record of translating strategy into measurable engineering and business outcomes.
Experience leading enterprise software development, platform engineering, developer experience, engineering excellence, or digital transformation. Experience with software supply chain security, open-source governance, developer productivity, engineering metrics, or modern DevSecOps practices. Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, modern runtime environments, infrastructure automation, and contemporary software delivery patterns. Experience implementing Generative AI, AI-assisted development, engineering automation, or coding-agent strategies.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex advisory and consulting relationships, while maintaining strong internal ownership. Ability to engage credibly with deeply technical leaders and senior executives across Quality, Regulatory, Cybersecurity, IT, Segment, and business organizations. Strong business acumen and ability to balance customer, developer, regulatory, cybersecurity, operational, and long-term technology priorities. Minimum requirements
- Master’s degree or bachelor’s plus 5+ years in relevant fields; 15+ years leading enterprise software or digital transformation in regulated industries.
