Job Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and supporting the successful delivery of internal projects and client engagements across BDO. This role serves as a central point of contact for project teams, engagement and firm leaders, clients, and other stakeholders, helping to ensure project objectives, timelines, budgets, risks, progress reporting, and deliverables are managed in a disciplined and transparent manner. The Project Manager promotes quality, accountability, collaboration, and an exceptional experience for both BDO professionals and clients.

Job Duties:

Project Planning, Execution & Delivery

Develops, maintains, and monitors detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, workstreams, dependencies, deliverables, and resource needs throughout the project lifecycle

Coordinates project execution from initiation through close, helping teams establish clear roles, responsibilities, decision points, communication routines, and expectations

Tracks project tasks and deliverables to promote timely completion, accountability, and visibility into project progress

Supports project budget management by monitoring budget-to-actual performance, resource utilization, engagement economics, and potential scope or pricing considerations

Helps teams apply project management practices that support quality, timely delivery, risk management, stakeholder alignment, and continuous improvement

Stakeholder Communication, Reporting & Governance

Serves as a primary project management contact for assigned projects or client engagements, working with internal teams, engagement leaders, clients, and stakeholders regarding project progress, risks, issues, and next steps

Identifies, documents, monitors, and escalates project risks, issues, decisions, changes, and dependencies to the appropriate leaders or stakeholders

Prepares and distributes project communications, meeting agendas, notes, status reports, dashboards, executive updates, and other project documentation

Facilitates internal and external project meetings, including preparing materials, documenting key outcomes, and following up on action items

Builds and maintains strong working relationships with engagement teams, clients, management, and cross-functional stakeholders

Business Outcomes, Continuous Improvement & Team Leadership

Tracks and monitors realization of project objectives, success metrics, adoption measures, and business outcomes after implementation

Partners with project sponsors to define and measure expected benefits and reports progress against those commitments

Promotes consistent use of BDO project management tools, templates, reporting standards, and related resources

Contributes to process improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline project delivery, improve communication, enhance reporting, and strengthen project governance

Performs other duties and supports special projects as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May supervise, coach, or coordinate the work of project coordinators, associates, seniors, or other team members assigned to projects or client engagements

May review work products, provide feedback, support workload planning, and help team members understand project management expectations and deliverable standards

Demonstrates strong client service, professionalism, responsiveness, and sound judgment in interactions with internal and external stakeholders

Leads by example and fosters a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented project environment

Communicates effectively at all levels, translating complex project information into clear, actionable updates for project teams and leadership

Anticipates project needs, proactively identifies barriers, and recommends practical solutions to keep work moving forward

Facilitates decision-making by identifying impacts, dependencies, resource constraints, and risks

Helps project teams remain focused on priority outcomes, quality expectations, and timely delivery

Supports team members by clarifying expectations, encouraging effective collaboration, and helping remove obstacles to execution

Travel

Travel may be required based on client, engagement, project, or practice needs

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education

Bachelor’s degree, required; focus in business, accounting, finance, management, information systems, preferred

Experience

Five (5) or more years of work experience in a professional setting, required

Experience managing projects, programs, client engagements, operations, transformation initiatives, or client-facing professional services work, preferred

Experience developing and maintaining project plans, timelines, status reports, RAID logs, action item trackers, meeting materials, and executive-level update, preferred

License(s)/Certification(s)

Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Agile, Scrum, Lean Six Sigma, or similar project management certification, preferred

Software

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Planner and project tracking or collaboration tools such as Smartsheet, preferred

Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP), preferred

Experience with Microsoft CoPilot and other AI tools, preferred

Strong understanding of project management methods, including planning, execution, monitoring, risk management, issue escalation, stakeholder communication, and project closeout

Ability to manage multiple priorities, workstreams, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare polished, concise, and audience-appropriate project -level communications

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to drive follow-through and accountability across teams

Ability to analyze project information, identify trends or risks, and recommend practical next steps

Ability to build relationships, influence without direct authority, and work effectively with professionals at varying levels of the organization

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $120,000 - $180,000

Boston Range: $145,000 - $170,000

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $150,000 - $180,000

Chicago Range: $135,000 - $150,000
