We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Sr Tax Accountant (Hybrid) on our Finance team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.
As a Sr Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting AMA’s tax function, including areas of tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax planning for international, federal, exempt organization, state, sales/use, and other taxes. This role is responsible for serving as a technical resource in researching and evaluating impacts of tax law changes for the AMA, developing tax recommendations for Senior Tax Manager review, and supporting modifications to existing processes and policies.
This role will prepare responses and schedules for federal, state, and sales/use tax audits and support all internal departments on tax matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tax Compliance, Tax Accounting, and Tax Planning
Prepare federal, state, sales/use, international, and property tax filings, returns, and payments
Identify, develop, and implement improved processes and best practices to increase tax process efficiency and reduce compliance gaps
Prepare of income tax provisions and estimated tax payments
Develop tax treatment recommendations through research, analysis, and informed application of laws and regulations
Research and Analysis
Perform complex tax technical research, planning, and analysis, including non-routine and ambiguous tax matters, and work with internal stakeholders at all levels and across functions
Interpret tax laws and guidance and prepare technical memorandums documenting analysis and recommended tax positions in a clear, logical, and comprehensive manner for Senior Tax Manager review
Participate in and support special projects and initiatives as requested
Audit Preparation
Investigate tax issues raised during audits and prepare supporting documentation and draft responses
Investigate tax notices and inquiries and prepare communication with taxing jurisdictions
May include other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree required (P1+/M1+)
Years of experience: 5+ years of experience with public accounting and/or in-house corporate tax required, not-for-profit tax experience a plus
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field required, CPA required, and MST a plus

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $87,394-$115,797. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration and geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA required, MST a plus
- Minimum 5 years of experience in public accounting and/or in-house corporate tax; not-for-profit tax experience preferred
- Proficient in federal, state, sales/use, international, and exempt organization tax compliance and planning
